PAST PROJECTS

Coast Guard facilities at Neah Bay, Upland and Bathymetric Mapping; Moffatt & Nichol / US Coast Gaurd - 2005
PGS, Inc. provided mapping of the upland portion of some of the Coast Guard facilities at Neah Bay. The mapping was of sufficient accuracy and density to provide contours at an interval of one foot, with lower limits of the mapping performed at a low tide condition, in addition, provided a bathymetric survey of the underwater portion of the Coast Guard facilities extending from the shallow limits of the survey vessel to approximately 1000 feet beyond the end of an existing pier. Completed research of and made recommendations concerning ownership and rights of submerged tidelands of Neah Harbor.

Microsoft 5 Traffic Mitigation Site As-Builts, Redmond Washington; KPFF / Microsoft - 2002
Performed as-built surveys of 5 street intersection sites within the City of Redmond. All drawings were delivered in AutoCAD format to City of Redmond Standards. Documentation of layer, line type, and attribute conventions were required as part of the submittal.

Olympic Pipeline River Crossings and Map Development, Western Washington; BP / Olympic Pipeline - Ongoing
Performed river cross sections to meet federal pipeline review guidelines for river crossings. The project included the mapping of over 30 separate river crossings of the Olympic Pipeline’s Petroleum Products Line. The survey required river bottom profiles over the existing Olympic Pipeline crossings in order to monitor erosion over the pipeline. As part of the requirements the river sections were tied to the Washington State Plane Coordinate System using GPS. The survey included the conversion of hand drawn maps to AutoCAD digital format.

Survey Training, The Titan Corporation, USAF Bellows AFS, Hawaii - 2004
Provided a training class to allow the Air Force to better utilize their Trimble 5600 Series Robotic Survey Equipment at Bellows Air Force Base. Elements of the classroom and hands-on field instruction included support in unpacking, inventorying of parts and software, setting up and configuration of the instrument, an overview of the Trimble Survey Controller Data Collector, step by step training in manual and robotic modes including radio communications, followed by and overview of the reduction and processing of electronic field note data to be imported into CADD software. The classes were conducted in three - 8 hour per day sessions on base.

Upper Methow River, Okanogan County, WA; Bureau of Reclamation - 2005
Provided over 60 miles of river cross sections and Thalweg profiles on the Methow, Chewuch, and Twisp Rivers of North Central Washington State. The survey required the collection of river channel cross-sections recording hydraulic, geomorphic, and floodplain characteristics including river substrate types, flows, and vegetation. This work was completed during a six-week period of October and November, 2005, and included the coordination of numerous field crews, coordination with the Bureau of Reclamation, and land owner relations to obtain access.

Boundary Dam Special Review, Metaline Falls, Washington; Acres International - 2002
Provided professional services in support of reviewing and establishing monitoring procedures for the City of Seattle at Boundary Dam in Northeastern Washington. The project included reviewing and analyzing the existing monitoring procedures and then make recommendations for upgrading the process to meet stricter accuracy requirements imposed by the International Coalition on Large Dams. After making recommendations for improving the monitoring process we were contracted to train City of Seattle personnel and to help with the processing and analyzing of the data.

White River Cross Sections, Enumclaw, WA.; TTISG / USACE - 2003
Provided survey data for 37 river cross sections, on 1000 foot plus or minus intervals, along approximately 7 miles of the White River, near Enumclaw, WA., with limited access to a remote location along the river. Surveys were performed using USACE field codes and standards and included both GPS and terrestrial measurement methods. The survey required the monumenting and surveying of 37 river channel cross-sections recording hydraulic, geomorphic, and floodplain characteristics including river substrate types, flows, and vegetation.

Neah Bay, WA. Penstock Pipeline Profiles and Reservoir Mapping; Bureau of Reclamation - 2005
Provided 6 miles of profiles surveys along a proposed pipeline alignment, and Bathymetric mapping of Educket Reservoir referenced to Washington State Plane Coordinates NAD 83/91 North Zone, and NAVD88 vertical datum.

Multi-Beam Bathymetric Mapping – Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport, WA; Moffatt & Nichols Engineering / US Navy - 2001
PGS, Inc. survey staff established shoreline GPS control and acquire multi-beam sonar data of the underwater area surrounding Pier I and II at the Keyport Naval Facility, Keyport WA. Bathymetric mapping was provided for the design of new piers. Survey included upland mapping of the Naval facilities including underground utility locates.

Howard Hanson Dam Phase I Site Investigations, Green River, King Co. WA; Tetra Tech ISG / USACE - 2002-2004
Provided field survey for detail mapping of an approximate 3 mile stretch of the Green River below the Howard Hanson Dam for design of fish spawning and habitat rehabilitation. Surveys were performed using USACE field codes and standards and included both GPS and terrestrial measurement methods. The survey required the monumenting and surveying of 25 river channel cross-sections recording hydraulic, geomorphic, and floodplain characteristics including river substrate types, flows, and vegetation. Pacific Geomatic Services, Inc. also provided a detail bankline profile, split flow details, and a water surface profile for hydraulic model calibration. Surveying also included the layout and as-built of fish habitat restoration features during construction.
